Trout fisherman this season were rewarded extremely well with Lake Nipigon producing record numbers of large (35LB+) Lake Trout as well as great Brook Trout fishing, particularily from late July to closing in mid September.
Fall walleye fishing, as always, was good right into late October., as the long warm fall season allowed for some later than usual access to open water.
Grouse hunting in fall 2006 was as good as it gets! Small game and ground bearing animals benefitted from the long, hot and dry summer and the grouse population exploded. Flocks of 10 to 20 birds are everywhere and all hunters were enjoying fruitful hunts, with a large number of bear sightings being reported daily as well.
For approximately 3 weeks in late August we had a pack of approximately 12 wolves including pups, in the immediate area and guests had the opportunity to see them frequently right in our yard, both day and night, and with a little coaxing the whole pack would start howling. A great experience!
Moose hunting as well, for frear of repeating myself, was good this fall with 7 animals being harvested through our camp (3 bulls, 1 cow, 2 male calves, 1 female calf) to present, as we still have some hunters in camp.
All in all it was and continues to be a great year and if any indication of things to come 2007 looks very promising.
Improvements continue around the camp and we thank all patrons for their patience as things take shape.
